It’s no surprise that I’m always on the lookout for new gluten-free treats! A few months ago, a new company I saw on instagram caught my eye: Carly’s Better Bites. These bright, beautiful cake bites were 100% gluten-free, made in small batches in NYC. I knew I needed to try them! I reached out and ordered the holiday edition of the bites. I can safely say that as beautiful as they look on the outside, they are equally as delicious on the inside. I got a chance to chat with the founder Carly Shapiro of Carly’s Better Bites.
This week was my husband’s birthday! Every year I brainstorm the best way to celebrate, and while 2016 wasn’t any different, his birthday fell on a Monday which meant more of a low key day in comparison to past celebrations.
Last year, I baked my husband nut-free funfetti cupcakes which he loved, but had to enjoy alone as I couldn’t eat them due to the gluten. This year, I wanted to get him a dessert that we could both enjoy. My first thought was to contact Everybody Eats: the amazing bakery in Brooklyn who made our gluten-free, nut-free wedding cake. Paired with a visit to our favorite BBQ restaurant, it was a successful (safe) birthday!
Fall in NYC is hands down the most magical time. Any thoughts I’ve ever had about how difficult NYC can be to live in disappear once the leaves begin to turn. Another reason I love living in the city, is also the number of allergen-friendly establishments that are safe and delicious for both my husband and myself to enjoy. I was lucky enough to speak with Eleni Gianopulos, the founder and Baker-in-Chief of Eleni’s Cookies which provides colorful, tasty nut-free treats to many people each day. We spoke about her background, plans for product expansion, and the craziest request she’s ever received for customized cookies, and more.
Bonjour NoGlu Gluten-Free Bakery & Restaurant! Welcome to NYC! A few years ago I had a trip booked to Paris. I was so excited to visit one of my favorite cities in the world, however I had a realization after booking the trip: I was newly gluten-intolerant. I was afraid that I might not be […]
Confession: I love Southern food. While it’s not particularly healthy, one of my favorite parts about dining at a BBQ joints is that I’m able to create a naturally gluten free meal from the meat and sides. Earlier this week I was reading Brooklyn Magazine and came across this passage in an interview with Top Chef finalist Carla Hall about her new restaurant called “Carla Hall’s Southern Kitchen” opening in Brooklyn this November, which also happens to be nut-free.
