Dairy-Free, Nut-Free Egg Nog
It’s December 1st which means it’s officially Egg Nog season! Nothing puts me more in the holiday spirit than my favorite festive drink. Recently I’ve been trying to limit dairy, and while he’s not allergic, my husband does have a slight intolerance to it as well. which means we’ve became a mainly dairy-free household (add it to the long list of restricted foods). This year, I’ve been in the market for dairy-free, nut-free recipes for Egg Nog, in addition finding the best store brand nog. Below are my findings.
So Delicious Dairy-Free Coconut Milk Nog: Made from Coconut Milk, So Delicious is one of my favorite dairy-free “milk” options, and I love their seasonal offerings (the chocolate mint coconut milk is also amazing). Enjoy hot or cold, you won’t miss the overly creamy taste of traditional egg nog. Bonus? Check out their recipe for Gluten-Free Eggnog Coffee Cake. While So Delicious does make nut milks, they have a very strict allergen policy which you can read in detail here.
SILK HOLIDAY DARIY EGG
Silk Nog:Â This Soybean based drink is free of eggs, dairy, saturated fat, and cholesterol. I like to add a sprinkle of nutmeg and cinnamon to the top, and heat it up for 25 seconds. The consistency is a bit thicker than traditional Silk Milk, which is great for coming close to the taste to traditional egg nog. Please note that Silk does produce nut milks, however they have a strict allergen policy as well, which you can read here.
Rice Dream Rice Nog:Â Rice milk has become one of my kitchen staples in my dairy-free journey. The limited edition nog is nut-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free. A bit thinner in consistency than the soy or coconut milk nog, I love to heat this up and add a splash of vanilla extract and cinnamon.
Oh She Glow’s Vegan Nog: I love this healthy allergy-free spin from one of my favorite daily reads: Oh She Glows. This vegan version of egg nog contains avocado, banana, and coconut for a healthy version egg nog. Check out the recipe here.Â
Fat Free Vegan’s Chia Nog:Â Chia has been proven to have many health benefits, which is one of the many reasons I LOVE this recipe from Fat Free Vegan incorporating these nutritional powerhouses. The recipe calls for an almond milk base, but I substitute coconut milk instead to keep it 100% nut-free. Similar to Chia Pudding but a bit thinner in consistency, this nog is healthy and delicious. Check out the recipe here.

Non-Dairy Scottish Eggnog: Curious about what Scottish Eggnog is? Here’s a hint: it contains rum and whiskey, making it a very adult beverage. This recipe from Slugs on the Refrigerator uses soy milk as the base, but this could also be swapped out with coconut or rice milk. Drink carefully and enjoy! Check out the recipe here.

Eggnog Smoothie: Okay, this is a bit crazy but as someone who drinks smoothies daily, I’m ALL ABOUT adding the holidays into your breakfast routine. This recipe is essentially a non-dairy milk of your choosing, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cloves. Blend together and you have a festive breakfast. Check out the recipe here.
